I know this is a topic that has come up before, but what does everything think serves the best Ukranian/East European (stuffed cabbage, perogi, etc.) dinner in the area? Veselka? Kiev? Teresa’s?

mrnyc, since you’re an expert, what are your recommendations? Have you tried the pierogi at Veselka or Kurowycky?

You can buy loaves and 1/2 loaves at Veselka. I think their challah is fantastic.

Veselka is a decent spot — ukranian food with some diner basics as well. Open 24 hours on 2nd Ave and 9th. Their stuffed cabbage is really good, a very hearty meal though at 2AM...

B&H Dairy on Second Ave or Veselka (aso on Second Ave) but my ALL TIME FAVES are the fresh ones I bought at M&I International Market in Brighton Beach – they were so yummy!

What about Veselka in the east village? They have blintzes, potato pancakes, salad w/ vegetarian chopped liver, kasha... good eastern european comfort food, much of which I’d consider Jewish food.

I love the ones that are gently crispy on the outside, but with the grated potato filling (as opposed to the mushy, mashed-potato-like filling. Personally like the ones at Teresa’s in the east village much better than...
