your best bet for venison is likely savenor’s in boston or john dewar + co in newton. whole foods sometimes has it, but they carried deer meat more consistently when they were under the bread and circus rubric.

My recommendation – and what you’ll probably hear the most – is John Dewar in Newton Centre. A lot of people say Savenor’s (down near MGH) but I find the place to be unfriendly and inconvenient.

Not too far away is John Dewar in Newton Center — they are pretty good – but a little pricey too – but you pay for what you get usually. I have purchased steaks and standing rib roast here that were great.
