It’s not what we had with our Christmas dinner, to Alice Waters’s chagrin.

Since it is matsutake season I am sure most of the Japanese restaurants will have dishes featuring matsutake. I remember last fall I had a similar matsutake rice dish at Aburiya Kinnosuke, and it was blended with other vegetables...

(I’ve had better, though this was good) ... roasted ginko, tilefish with the season’s-end of matsutake ... kyo-ya on e. 7th.

dishes i cant remember. i was pretty excited to order matsutake mushrooms and uni in a chawan mushi. dont see that on the menu too often. the uni was perhaps not of the best quality but the matsutake had great texture and flavor!...

I’ve been looking all over for fresh porcini mushrooms and matsutake mushrooms in toronto. Any ideas?

Perhaps a bit of miscommunication... I think they are matsutake.

Aburi kinmedai? Scandalous.... I’d only accept nitsuke as another prep! It’s also matsutake season. Is this the same place you reviewed that had the matsutake dobinmushi, or did I confuse it with another place?

's not a classic sushi bar but they do serve it along with a lot other standard Japanese dishes along with some specials. And that’s where I had issues with them. When it’s matsutake season, and one orders a matsutake...

Hi all, these were bought in my local (Sichuan, China) market today. They are 3X the price of other mushrooms. The vendor, who doesn’t have them every day, says they are wild and the name means something like pine mushroom....

Not in DC, but there are hibachi restaurants in NOVA. Matsutake is located next to the Ballston Mall in Arlington, and Sakura is in Fair Lakes in Fairfax.

Special as always. Hightlights were some fine bluefin toro, uni, and matsutake (pine mushroom) soup.
