I hate to be the one to break this to ya...but jerky is SUPPOSED to be hard. Real homemade, no preservatives (other than salt) jerky shouldn’t be kept in plastic, and should be crunchy.

Packaged jerky is available at the Whole Foods(s), Lifethyme, Healthy Delights, Amish Market and many other locations that sell healthyish snacks. Check out the health food store near you. I’ve never seen fresh/homemade.
