never eat jarred gefilte fish anymore. the frozen loafs take an hour and half to cook. best Frozen loaf I found is Benz’s, but we bought Royal as it’s pretty good too and much cheaper

Most recipes call for carp, whitefish, pike, haddock, or similar firm white filets. It is really difficult to find these fish fresh. Can I substitute something else that is more readily available here in Northern California?
