Very much a scene—furniture from a Manhattan gallery, self-satisfied attitude prevails in the front of the house. I’d describe the food as striving, but hit-or-miss in execution. All observations about 6 mos. old.

China Pearl has opened a satelite cafe downstairs (called China Pearl Best Cafe, no English signage, got name from takeout menu)) that looks quite lovely, with lacquered furniture and marble table tops. Haven’t eaten there...

Antique Garage on Mercer is very cute and funky. I went there for dinner, so not sure about how lunch is, but you should check it out. It’s mezze-type food, and the furniture is all mismatched and very charming.

The space looks very nice- great furniture, jukebox, etc. They are currently running happy hour specials (5-7pm) of $3 Brooklyn beer pints.
