what is the best restaurant in portland, me
IMHO on a food-only level it’s Bandol, followed by Back Bay, Fore St, Hugo’s, & Street & Co. in that order. High honorable mentions to Rachel’s Osteria, Yosaku and Ribollita.

Five Fifty-Five. I ate there a few weeks ago and found it to be one of the best meals I’d ever had in Portland. I also recommend Fore Street. It’s fantastic, too. Link: http://www.fivefifty-five.com/

Portland, ME this Friday night...
I actually enjoy eating alone, usually sitting at a bar (I’m an almost-middle-aged woman). I’d recommend the bar at Fore Street (hey, live it up), or the sushi bar at Yosaku.
