We got excellent corn nuts at an Oh Nuts store in Monsey. There were under a heat lamp and pretty good. They were a bit smaller and more greasy than the brand name version. I do miss cornnuts.

I think what you are discribing is from Ecuador. Thay call them tostados and the Peruvians call them cancha. I have never had them- though I do love cornnuts- but Iread about them in Calvan Trillin’s book Feeding a Yen....
